Meet Sophia,an adventurous 11-year-old sailor, artist, musician, and proud boat kid! She started her sailing journey at just three and a half years old on her family’s small sailboat, igniting her passion for the ocean. Now living full-time aboard their sailboat with family and dog, Bolt, Sophia explores the breathtaking coasts of the United States and the Bahamas while balancing school with snorkeling, drawing, and music. Having sailed thousands of miles and visited countless incredible places, Sophia believes that home is wherever her family drops anchor. Through her adventures, she hopes to inspire other kids to be brave, explore, and chase their dreams—no matter how big or small!

Hi, I’m Anna, a liveaboard sailor. I cruise with my husband Tony, our daughter Sophia, and our dog Bolt, following the wind along the U.S. East Coast and through the Bahamas.

Life aboard is equal parts adventure and everyday magic. I homeschool Sophia from the cockpit and the cabin table, cook creative meals in a constantly moving galley, and balance long passages with slow days at anchor. I love getting lost in a good book and capturing moments through my camera lens — documenting the beauty of simple life at sea: sunsets, salt-streaked decks, and the people we meet along the way.

Cruising has taught me flexibility, curiosity, and courage. Whether we’re fixing something underway, dropping anchor in a new place, or reconnecting with old friends in familiar harbors, I’m always chasing the next experience and the next good story.

I learned to sew on a boat, turning canvas, fabric, and necessity into something useful. I’m endlessly crafty — always making, fixing, and reimagining life afloat. When I’m not sailing or problem-solving, you’ll usually find me taking photos and capturing the magic all around us.

This life keeps me curious, inspired, and free — and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I’m Anthony “Tony” Swiacke, captain of S/V Bogumila, and been told a heart behind our family’s cruising adventures. I’ve been married to Anna for over 20 years, and together we share the dream of sailing full-time with our daughter, Sophia, exploring the U.S. East Coast, the Bahamas, and beyond.

Life aboard Bogumila isn’t just a vacation — it’s a way of life. As the primary skipper, I handle navigation, passages, and most of the maintenance, keeping our boat running safely and smoothly. I also love sharing what we’ve learned with the sailing community through detailed cruising logs, gear reviews, safety lessons, and stories from our adventures.

I grew up in Northeast Connecticut and built my career as a licensed electrician, working in the electrical and construction industries. But I eventually realized that time with my family was far more valuable than the daily grind. So we took a leap, prepared Bogumila for life at sea, and haven’t looked back.

I’m not a lifelong professional mariner, but I am a technically trained problem-solver, and I apply those skills to both seamanship and everyday life onboard. Our family cruises not just to explore, but to grow, learn, and share — making memories and lessons along the way.
